Estate Planning, Wills & Probate

Rena Hollander assists clients with their wills

Writing a will ensures that you can control what happens with your assets and belongings after 120.

Without a will, your inheritance will be distributed according to the default law; for example,  a spouse inherits 50% and the children 50%.

By planning ahead, should you choose, you can ensure that your spouse inherits first and the children afterwards, or customize the division of assets as is best for your needs. Alternatively, you can bequeath your assets to a non relative, charity or however you wish. For single individuals who may not have a spouse or relative to bequeath their estate, a will can allow them to provide for friends, siblings, or other loved ones.

FAQs

Do I need a will if I am a foreign resident?

If you have property or assets in Israel, having an Israeli will helps streamline the probate process for your loved ones. Probating foreign wills is possible however, and our office specializes in dealing with complicated probates for local or foreign residents. However, having an Israeli will makes the process shorter, easier and cheaper.

Do you handle halachic wills?

Our office draws up wills that conform to halacha. We can either draw up halachic wills which have been developed through years of consulting with rabbanim or we can work with your rabbinic authority and model the will to his specifications, ensuring that it also meets all legal requirements.

Do you check preexisting wills?

Our office also consults clients who have preexisting wills and will advise you whether you also need to draw up an Israeli will as well.

Probate

Navigating the legalities of an estate after the loss of a loved one can be an overwhelming burden. Our firm provides comprehensive support in the probate and administration of estates in Israel, ensuring that a person’s final wishes are honored with precision and care. We handle the entire procedure through the Registrar of Inheritance Matters—from filing petitions for Probate Orders (where a will exists) or Succession Orders (for intestacy) to the final distribution of assets.

Beyond the paperwork, we act as a bridge for families, managing the complexities of locating assets, settling estate debts, and registering inherited real estate in the Land Registry (Tabu), help navigate the banks and government offices.

Whether you are an Israeli resident or a family living abroad with assets in Israel, we provide the steady legal hand needed to resolve disputes between heirs and ensure a smooth, transparent transfer of legacy to the next generation.
